Susanne Evens, Founder + CEO
As a child growing up in Aalen, Germany, Susanne was always fascinated by language and culture, learning all she could about other cultures through books and television and taking up multiple languages by her teenage years. After graduating from college, she set out on her own cultural journey, immigrating to the United States and traveling the country before settling in St. Louis and founding German Language Communications in 1994, which subsequently became AAA Translation in 2005.
Susanne is a sought-after expert on multicultural communications and global business development who has been featured in/on NPR, BusinessWeek, Bloomberg Business News, and more. Since 2008, she has been a guest lecturer at the University of Missouri – St. Louis’s Women in International Business. She is a recipient of the Friedrich Hecker Freedom Award by the German-American Heritage Society of St. Louis, the St. Louis Mosaic Project Immigrant Entrepreneur Award, and the St. Louis Small Business Monthly Top 100 People to Know to Succeed in Business Award.
Her passion extends to her work helping other immigrants and entrepreneurs succeed, including as a mentor for the Women’s Leadership Council at University of Missouri – St. Louis, a board member of the German-American committee, a member of the St. Louis Mosaic Project Immigrant Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, and a board member of the Missouri Humanities Council.
